3-Step Approach to Success as Property Agent

Has anyone told you what you need to do to be a successful property agent? I’m going to share with you the three approaches that you need to work on to be a better property agent. Stay tuned.

Build your network connection

First thing you need to do is to pull out your contact book and lists down all the people in your list. Identify who you’ve not spoken to about your business in real estate. Because, the first thing you need to do, is to call them and meet them as soon as possible.

Real estate business is a people business. You need people to do transactions in order to keep your business alive. The minute you’ve got no one to talk to, you’ll soon realize your business is getting nowhere. Connecting people is the life-blood of your business as a property agent. You need to meet people, new people everyday if you can.

It’s also a numbers game. The more you meet, you get more chances of closing deals. Just ask yourself how many people have you met today, a week ago and a month ago. The total number of people you meet will tell you how your business is going.

Although it’s a lot easier said than done, you need to network, get connected with more people. Expand your connections through social media, through business network meetings and catch up with friends and relatives. If you want to see your business grow, building your network and your circle of influence is a must to excel in your business.

So, get the list out, contact them, make appointments and meet at least one person a day. Consistency is key.

Build your knowledge

Let’s say now you’ve got a very good network of people you’re connected with. But are you prepared to talk to them? Do you have any material of importance to convey to them? Do you have solutions to help them?

The next step is to build up your ammunition to handle objection and have a wide variety of strategies and techniques to propose to your network connections. You can meet with them and try to listen to their pain points.

What obstacles they are facing in matters related to their property? They want to upgrade but what’s holding them back? They have the money but could not buy, why is that so? Do you have an alternate solution?

With good training and guidance from an experienced mentor, you’re able to learn and practice how to handle such a situation. By listening and understanding your client’s situation and then coming up with a plan to help them buy or sell their property, you’re already one step ahead of many property agents who are just handling transactions. You are seen as an expert and your value is in helping your client who could not progress without your help.

The second step of this approach is to learn as many strategies as possible, listen to your client and offer proposals. Your client will be so thankful to you for giving them a different perspective and from there, you gain their trust and you receive many more referrals in near future. This is one way to create a strong base for referrals. Build up your knowledge, learn strategies and apply them according to their situation. Start today.

Seek a good mentor

Now, real estate business can be a very lonely business if you’re running it like a Lone Ranger. You need a buddy, a partner and a mentor to work with you. Your mentor must have your interest at heart. A mentor who is trustworthy, approachable and able to work with you to offer a solution to your client.

Therefore, the third approach is to find a team and a manager that you can work with, closely, someone who can find the time to sort out the obstacles you’re facing and experienced enough to guide you. You must be able to get along very well with your manager and share the same work style an ethics.

Even if you’re an experienced agent, there will be a time you’ll be hit with a mental block. In such a case, we always tell our associates to talk to us. Share with us the issues on hand and let’s find a solution together. Many great minds are better than one.

It’s so sad to learn sometimes that agents are often left behind and they’ve got no one to turn to for solutions. Believe it or not, Mentors and managers makes a big difference in your career in real estate. Therefore, choose wisely. Don’t be lured by popularity and numbers. It’s the quality that matters most in your career as a property agent.

Summary

So, there you have it, the three step approach that if you follow through, you’ll see a big difference in your career. You need to build your network, make appointments everyday. Then you need to offer solutions your clients didn’t know exists and seek your mentor’s help when you hit mental block.
